PSP: K, I'm sold

Post by Damien »

Square Enix confirmed that the popular table game Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Portable will be coming to PSP sometimes in 2006. The game will feature characters from Final Fantasy XII and Dragon Quest VIII.

Alright, Itadaki Street is one of my most favourite games of all time.
This the first PSP news that's actually made me jump up and inwardly shout Get's! (and no, I don't just like the game because it has Finfal Fantasy characters in and hardly anybody knows who it is :p).

Looking forward to a PSP game @_@

It's a really engaging and fun Monopoly-like board game.
You really need to have played it to know why it's so good.

Having a PSP myself I can tell you its extremely versatile, i use it to watch the new simpsons/family guy/american dad every monday morning, and play my favourite SNES game (usually megaman x3). You can download pretty much every game that's come out for the system aswell, and on top of all the free games it'll play, you can listen to your favourite tunes aswell.
For the price the PSP is awesome

Monopoly is a fine board game, that is IF PEOPLE STOPPED FUCKING ABOUT WITH THE RULES AND DIDN'T INTRODUCE SHIT LIKE LANDING ON FREE PARKING GIVES YOU FIVE MILLION BAJILLION DOLLARS.

I think that's actually a real rule? It doesn't matter anyway, since it barely has an impact on the interminable game.

The hell it doesn't. It fucks up the game balance, as it means that no money goes out from the players, and instead players collect more and more money until usually the bank gets bankrupted. Result: The game takes on average an hour longer than if those rules weren't in the game, and it tends to be two uber rich players, so is boring for everyone else who got knocked out ages ago.

And no, it isn't a real rule. Auctioning is a real rule (and speeds up the game and actually makes it better), which no-one plays because it is "too complicated."

Honestly, Monopoly has some problems in the gameplay, but most are made 100 times worse by "house rules" that people play with.

The usual culprits:
* Adding one of each note in the centre at the start of the game
* Adding any money lost from taxes into the centre
* Landing on free parkig gets the player all $$$ in the centre.
* Allowing mortgaging properties without selling houses
* Allowing building houses unevenly on properties in ther same colour.

All these (totally made up) rules should be ban. National and local ban.

What? You're saying there's some rule that you have to build houses evenly on properties of the same color? If that's true it might help a bit. Still an hour is only about 20% when it comes to Monotony in my experience.

A digital copy of the book that no-one ever reads.

Monopoly is actually a reasonably fun game when families don't ruin it, but I'd rather have root canal treatment than play "house rules" stylee.

Oh yeah! Some more about Monopoly...

* Landing on Go =/= $400

* there are only 32 houses, and you can't build more until someone buys a hotel (and you must have 4 physical houses before a hotel can be built).

* Players in jail *can* collect rent.

* You can't give properties with buildings on to another player, you have to sell 'em back to the bank first... at half price.

Your absolutely right. All the made up rules that most people play with in Monopoly destroy the fun of the game. Stick to the base rules in the book. They make for the best possible game of Monopoly you can play.
