Re: GTA San Andreas trailer--you in the jungle, baby
Alright I've been playing this game non stop since i posted. My homeboy is HUGE. Looks like Mike Tyson. I've got my green pants (Grove St flags, nigga) my slant, dog tags, green low tops and my prison tats.
I would post impressions, but I'll just answer questions if anyone wants to ask... because seriously, everything you have ever hoped for in this game is possible. It's just that fucking good.
I've been taking pics with my *sigh* camera phone, if someone wants to check them out, IM me and I'll link.
Oh and entering and exiting loading times... I'd say about 5 seconds max.

Re: GTA San Andreas trailer--you in the jungle, baby
The problem is that I'm not a complete motherfucking GTA tool and wouldn't be buying it this Fall anyway. So given that I'm gonna wait to buy the game anyway, I'd better wait for the Xbox/PC/GH version which will offer many more advantages. MAN I'M SO FUCKING STUPID BECAUSE I DON'T BUY THIS GAME RIGHT NOW.the 3rd child wrote:This "waiting for xbox" is just plain stupid to me. Wow, you can make your own soundtrack?! SWEET.
No, not sweet. If i wanted to listen to music while playing a game, I'd put it on the fucking stereo, I wouldn't wait for a year so I could load it into the game.
Oh and custom soundtracks are by definition the best soundtracks ever because you can make it to your exact liking. All hail 2nd grade logic!

Re: GTA San Andreas trailer--you in the jungle, baby
At no point whatsoever did I say buying xbox over ps2 was stupid when they're both out. If your waiting just to wait anyways, regardless if it's coming out for xbox, and then buying for xbox, is not stupid. Don't tell me to fucking read when you completely missed what I was saying. And what I said wasn't directed at anyone here in the first place. So YOU learn to read, Ward. I said it was stupid for people to wait because of the false thinking that there is going to be a WORLD of change graphic-wise. And I still stand by the fact that a custom soundtrack isn't really a selling point. If I wanted to listen to music, I'd pop it into a stereo. The DJ's talk about the song's they're playing, and some of it is pretty damn funny. Custom soundtrack in any other game would be different, but for GTA, the soundtrack goes well with the game and is there with a purpose. Messing with the soundtrack is messing with the game itself, which is something I'm not wanting to do. If you change the soundtrack in GTA, you're degrading the world created by the game.
In conclusion, don't bitch and me and tell me to read when it's you who should purchase some lenses, because you're a fucking idiot, Ward. Good job completely missing my point.

Re: GTA San Andreas trailer--you in the jungle, baby
Yes. You said that waiting for the Xbox was stupid period. If you had elaborated a bit, it would've clearly avoided the confusion!the 3rd child wrote:At no point whatsoever did I say buying xbox over ps2 was stupid when they're both out.
You were trolling. Are you insinuating that you weren't? First off, it's highly suggestive, given that your solution is quite relevant to your setup, but not necessarily to others. I don't see any constructive justification of your "ITS STUPID TO ME". You're just bitching just because it's not worth it to you, insinuating that what the people are doing is STUPID. If that's your critera for stupidity, I'm sorry, but you're quite the silly one. This "waiting for xbox" is just plain stupid to me. Wow, you can make your own soundtrack?! SWEET.
No, not sweet. If i wanted to listen to music while playing a game, I'd put it on the fucking stereo, I wouldn't wait for a year so I could load it into the game..
I agree with whatever else you said, but I strongly disagree with that. Degrading the world created by the game? Please. Your custom songs are played when you drive a stupid car in an open-ended game. They're not played during cinematics. They're played when you're wreaking havoc and mayhem.Messing with the soundtrack is messing with the game itself, which is something I'm not wanting to do. If you change the soundtrack in GTA, you're degrading the world created by the game.
They're trying to represent an early to mid-90s era, sure. Car CD/Cassette players existing back then. But I think there's better music that *I* enjoy more from that era, or from eras before that. Given that CJ is my avatar in the game, I don't see how putting music that I like while I drive cars is "degrading the world" - especially if I put alternative music from that era (and before) that I prefer.
And that goes without saying that you might have the proper setup to play your own music on the stereo, but I don't. My consoles are all plugged in my stereo, and if I just popped in my music in the stereo, it would not be any better as I would lose sound (or stereo sound if I decided to use two channels for both devices). Bleh.
But then again, it's an extra feature (much like coop gameplay) that's good to have. PERIOD. If you don't like it, you don't even have to use it! Players win!
Good job at explaining it so well in the first place. In conclusion, don't bitch and me and tell me to read when it's you who should purchase some lenses, because you're a fucking idiot, Ward. Good job completely missing my point.

Yes. It was quite obvious.
What the fuck? I was staying on topic you halfwit. You're the one bringing all that off topic irrational hating. How is discussing the advantages of a goddamn custom soundtrack off topic? Now I've definitely followed the trail of hate, I admit to that, but you're acting as though you weren't of fault in that, while you were the one disposing the childish insults. Fucking righteous pricks piss me off.

Oh, and I'm aware that I am also disposing insults now, but that's because I am utterly convinced that you are acting like a complete clueless jerk.

Re: GTA San Andreas trailer--you in the jungle, baby
HOLD ON I HAVE TO GET IN THE LAST WORD!!!
Anyway onto the game. There's so much more to manage now, you're never bored aimlessly wandering around -- even though it is fun in this game. I now have to manage territories, defending it from other gangs while acquiring more land, all while keeping my girlfriend happy. There's a ton more R3 side-jobs, some are fun, some are kinda recycling others.
SPOILERS (not story related, just fun things i've come across).
-In the precinct shower room, there's a purple double sided dildo that you can use as a melee weapon.
-Behind the carwash in Los Santos there's a car that you can use to pimp girls with.
-Arcade games are playable in the local bar, which you unlock after your first date.
-Your sex appeal goes up majorly when you are seen getting out of a sporty car or one you modify.
-There are music games, the two I've played so far were hitting hydraulics to the beat and a parrapa the rappa-esque dance game on the beach.
end spoilers
I'll post more later.
edit: Ward, I said what I meant in my first post, but the manner in which I said it was not serious at all. You took everything I said personally, when in my reply I told you I was not singling anyone out at all, you reacted badly. Don't get upset when I express my opinion about something, I was never insulting anyone, but of course you took it that way. You can be an internet tough guy all you want, you can try and pick apart what I said, you can call me childish, but I already said I really don't care. Wait for xbox, that's fine. You took this further than it had to go, and that's when shit got off topic. Like I said, you can IM me and talk to me privately.. but it's very probable that you wont.

Whatever kid I don't care, like I said posts ago. Funny, you still haven't tried to get in contact with me -- I wonder why?
More on the game:
I'm not quite sure on how dating fully works, because right now the girl i'm dating was given to me within the story. Basically I have to visit her from time to time and take her out to keep her happy. There's a relationship meter and when you go out, it moves more towards the positive, but if you ignore her and don't go and see her, of course, it goes towards the negative. Dates so far are pretty simple, she tells you what she wants to do, and you go do it. Most of the time she wants to eat, and what area she wants to go to eat. But there some occassion when you pop in and the screams something like "lets go do a driveby on some ballas!". This bitch (as CJ tend to refer to her as) packs an Uzi and will shoot at ANY opposing gang member she see's. Also, when you go to her house it looks like once you get to know her really well you can move in with her.

Re: GTA San Andreas trailer--you in the jungle, baby
Now that I'm sitting down in front of the game I guess I'll explain turf wars. Basically at some point in the game the you gain the ability to claim areas from other gangs. When you start, the largest amount of land belongs to the Ballas. To start a turf war, all you have to do is go onto their area and start shooting members of the gang it belongs to. You have to do this on foot, too, drive-bys wont work. Also, when you unlock the ability to claim turf, you also unlock to ability to recruit guys from your gang to follow you around. The amount of guy you can have in your crew depends on how high your respect is. Your respect is increased with most of the missions you do. You can hit down on the D-pad to have you crew stay at certain points, or you can hit up on the D-pad and CJ will tell them to follow him around. The AI for you crew doesn't seem to be all that great, I don't think they can climb and when you guy up somewhere that they can't reach they run around in a panic ignoring all things around them -- they're usually killed pretty easily when this happens (either because they run out in front of a car or they get shot and don't really defend themselves). Anyway, back to the turf war. It helps to have guys with you, but really they'll mostly be killed off by the opposition. You can basically win gang wars by yourself (or atleast so far in the game). After you aggrovate your enemies, you have to fight of 3 different waves. I usually park myself on top of a roof and just pick off guys as they come with an AK47. After the 3 waves, the territory is yours and your gang will start showing up there. You'll have to defend your areas from time to time from other gangs trying to take it over. You're notified with a pop-up message and the area under attack flashes red. All you have to do is go off and kill one single wave of enemies and then you're fine for the time being. One final note, once you take over places, money starts pouring at the place where you first call home (the Johnson Family house). It's like owning businesses in Vice City. Every so often just check back at home and you'll see a $ in from of you garage, just walk up and collect free money. :)
edit: I'm guessing places that are selling it Monday are only selling it to people who reserved? I'll just pick it up tuesday morning from Toys R Us :D

How is the framerate? Is it the steady 30 fps they have been promising? Can you notice something particular missing that might be explaining the higher framerate (eg less traffic etc). And are there as many graphical glitches as VC?
And what about the new aiming system? Any good? How does it work? I've always read "it's like Manhunt's", but I haven't played Manhunt.

Re: GTA San Andreas trailer--you in the jungle, baby
The aiming system seems to be pretty much the same as previous GTA games unless if I have a horrible memory. You can auto aim with R1 and then scroll through targets with R2/L2 and then you fire with L1 or circle. The Manhunt style stuff are the stealth kills. I've only been able to stealth kill with a knife so far, all you do is crouch (which allows you to sneak around and move silently. it also increases the accuracy of your shots), and move behind someone, you'll target their head automatically and then exicute. With the knife you slice your victims throat sending blood everything and no one is aware of it.
Visually I've noticed some crappy textures while out in the sticks. The game still has the issue of everything rendering/loading after you arrive. I'd say 98% of the time it doesn't happen, but if you get somewhere quicker than the game can render it, you'll be left wondering where the hell to go for a few seconds. It doesn't last long but can be very disorientating especially if you're flying around on one of the suped of racer bikes.
Now onto robbing houses. First, to do so you have to have a truck that looks like a UPS delivery truck. These seem to be hard to come by, so if you find one, throw it into one of your garages. Once you have that, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00, R3 enables the robbery side-job. The screen fades to black for a second than then you're back in the game. Carl now sports a cliche black ski mask. You have to go around neighborhoods searching for shining yellow cones that mark the entrances to places you can rob. You park your truck and then walk inside. You can only take ONE item at a time and you have to be silent. There's a noise meter and if you're too loud you have 10 seconds to get out of the house before you have 3 badges on you, so being careful is a great priority. There's also time when you'll walk in and the house owner will be sitting rigtht in front of you, that also sets of the 10 second count down. The items you steal are things like TVs, VCRs and stereo. You pick up your item with triangle. Then head out to the truck and go to back of it and hit trial again to drop off your loot. You have from 20:00 to 6:00 to raid as many houses as you can, once daylight comes you have until 10:00 to make it to the lockup where you pull your truck into a garage and then get paid. You can make 5k+ on a single run. This is definately the way to go in the beginning of the game seeing as other side-jobs (rogue cop, taxi, pimping, etc) are time consuming and hard. Your beginning missions rarely pay and when they do it's no more than a couple hundred, so yeah, robbery is definately the way to go.

Re: GTA San Andreas trailer--you in the jungle, baby
I just checked my order tracking and it says:
Order Date: 10/18/2004 Shipping Type: USA Overnight
Last night at around 10, the order was still on "processing", but it's 7 in the morning now, and it's confirmed that they have actually shipped out.
So it's not just if you preordered from a store, it's also for the peeps who ordered from the website too.
In fact, we should be getting our San Andreas earlier than the peeps who are getting there's from the store.
Today will be a very very good day. Too bad I have lots of work to do.
