Oh, I meant I was going to just get the sticky off the bottom of the actual external case, not the hard drive itself. I don't hate my roommate enough to do that.

I think so too actually. I decided to give it a try again, and well, the hd's on light doesn't light up, but when I plugged the usb cable in, instead of Windows telling me I have a malfunctioning device it cannot recognize, the pop up balloon said "New USB device detected".
