*plans on rebuying a psp this year solely for this*http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143798
Origins of popular RPG series make the handheld jump.

The financial drain of tracking down copies of Suikoden 1 and 2 for the original PlayStation are out of bounds for most gamers, but Konami's about to make those gaming experiences a heck of a lot easier with Suikoden 1&2, ports of both games to PSP.
Not only that, but Konami's bundling the duo onto one UMD! There don't appear to be any enhancements being made to the conversions, and given the track record of most companies with their PSP ports, don't really expect Konami to work overtime on this.
As you'd expect, there's no word on a US release, but given the current drought of releases for the portable, we wouldn't be surprised to see it come over sometime next year.

They are going to make improvements.
Matsukawa was the senior producer for Suikoden IV and was also in character of Suikoden II after Murayama left. He's basically a manager of the development team. Kawano works under him, basically.
He has been making some pretty strong comments at TGS, apparently, such as "Suikoden is on par with Final Fantay and Dragon Quest," and "we won't take the easy way out and put a half-assed effort into bringing Suikoden 1 and 2 to the PSP, we will add new things to them."
And the "Deepest entry" leans, "deepest stroyline." He also says that this Suikoden will be the longest in terms of gameplay.
Yea but there are alot of ports that were out for PSP in Japan that have yet to even be announced in the US. It's highly doubtful in my mind it will ever come out or if it did, not after a long while after it's introduction in the east.
But I guess wishful thinking can't hurt. I'd love to play them in my dorm or something or while my roomate is sleeping.

Did you guys watch the 10 minute trailer?
This game is going to own, I'm sure it'll make up for IV. Thankfully.
Go to gamespot to see it, konami's releasing it on their site tonight. It's full of fanservice. Not only does it show (I think?) all the 27 true runes, but it also shows Georg owning it up, Lorelai, and the hero in clothes similar to Tir's (hero 1).
Gameplay wise so far it looks fantastic. You can change battle formation, in many varieties. It seems this is key to certain types of unite attacks. Speaking of unite attacks, you can now do whole party combo's (yes, 6 characters). Story and plot wise it's looking great so far. According to the people that know Japanese, the script (as presented in the trailer) is very well made and definitely puts the emphasis on characterizatoin and plot. It's also going to have quite a few True Rune appearances (as seen in the trailer). Blue Moon/Sarsadmin is going to translate the trailer tonight.
The party in a arena looking enviroment (notice Georg on the right, with the eyepatch). Take note that Felena has Gladiator arena fights for sport:

Lorelai:

compraed to her Suikoden II art:

Not to mention *this* little homage:

What? There are beaver people this time!
This game's trailer was better than IV in it's entirety. Also, it looks they've been working on this game since way before IV was even released. When it comes out, it will have been in development for almost 2 years.
Here's an srt with the same translations but you can work it with the high quality gamespot trailer.
