What's great about Vancouver?
Possibly planning a trip here and I was wondering what kinds of things might be interesting to someone who has never been there?
I expect people who live there or have been there to give me some good feedback here.
What's there to see? What's there to DO? Anything at all, really. I want to know some really good things that would convince me that it's a really awesome city.

-science world
-playland (& PNE if you're here at the right time)
-Robson Street shopping
-Metrotown shopping center
-Davie St with pink gay bustops and trash bins
-many beaches
-many forests
-many mountains for hiking/climbing/skiing/views (particularily the Grouse Grind if you're here during the summer-ish half of the year)
-gas town
-chinatown
-night markets in chinatown/richmond during summer
-gardens (Van Dusen, Queen Elizabeth Park, UBC)
-nude beach (Wreck Beach) at UBC
-Vancouver Art Gallery (has a static Emily Carr exhibit as well as rotating exhibits) (also lots of small indepenedent art galleries)
-various museums & a planetarium
-capilano suspension bridge
-a "storyeum" or however it's spelled. I haven't been to it yet but I'd like to go. It just opened a year or two ago.
Um, that's about all I can think of for now. There's lots of good international cuisine, particularily if you go to Commercial Drive, though you can find a selection pretty much everywhere.
When are you planning on coming? If you don't want it to rain almost every day, I hope your trip is during the May-September part of the year...

woo hi 2 everyone~
Haha, Damien that picture of the Cambie is the Nanaimo one... I live a few blocks away from there
Sally you were quite comprehensive
The only thing I can think of to add is such an immense amount of shopping so that no matter what you're into you can find numerous shops that would make you want to spend your life's savings a few times over
There really is a lot of gorgeous scenery about if you're not accustomed to BC though. (VanIsle is prettier
)
Vancouver also has a really awesome public transit system, especially in combination with their website.
For me the best reason to go to Vancouver is to visit people there

It was the best drawing ever. The paper had a urine coloured stain on it though from what I remember.... But maybe we added that later, all I remember clearly is the greatness of the picture.Angela wrote:Was it any good or just completely hilarious?
Or did he just run away with your money to go buy more beer?

What's even crappier is this drink called 'horlicks' that is served in a lot of places in richmond (and it sounds funny).
Haha, I never noticed that before

I got a fine on the sky train I remember now, but they let me off without paying because I was English. I change my mind, vancouver is awesome, go there.
