While resetting my passwords after the PSN hack I stumbled over this thread. Ah, sweet nostalgia. From the little I have seen of the current state of the site it really seems that things are quite dire here.

And with the way Square is pumping out mostly crap (FFXIII WTF??) I would agree that rebooting the site in some way would mean to part with revolving around Square Enix.

By the way, am I the only one to feel that there are virtually no good RPGs on the PS3 AT ALL? The one good game I can remember that somewhat resembles an RPG is Valkyria Chronicles. I mean, there were half a dozen brilliant ones on either PS1 and PS2.

Oh and I agree that ATLUS has some sweet titles under its belt (I loved Devil Survivor for DS and am looking forward to Catherine).

So what'll it be? Squaregamer 2020? (I think not) ATLUSGamer? Maybe with the combined power of oldschoolness the site could focus on games that have what made past Square games great: Awesome storytelling, atmosphere and memorable worlds.

Anyway, a redesign would be in order. This depressing dark blue is not really attractive and the site could use some CSS magic while going easy on the Web 2.0 craziness.

That being said, I'll be too busy with the family to help

, so yeah, do something!

I think you should have a big bash before you let the ship crash. Bring back one more SGTV get the old episodes up there. Make some phone calls and get all the old users back for one last hurah...

It's obvious no one cares about anything the community is supposed to represent anymore. It's seems like the only purpose of the site is to spew hate about square, and lampoon the gaming culture and community as a whole.

That's what really gets me about this site, the lack of respect.

Another fact, The latest update reads 2008 I believe. You don't even put the time in to make decent banners. SGTV is broken. Finally, there are never more than 10 people on at a time.

If you don't to close the site relinquish it to someone who can bring it back to its former glory.

As with any community it is the attitude of the people that makes it a success or a complete failure. As of now, SG is failing in a horrible way.

Regarding SGTV. You do realise that this was produced by Shaun with SG Vancouver? None of SG Van post on here anymore and most of them don't even talk to each other anymore over various petty reasons. Also Shaun now lives in Japan. and what would be the point in producing SGTV for the 5 people who will watch it. For someone who has lurked here for so long you don't really seem to know anything about SG.

Saying that though, Damien, what do you think about doing an SGUK TV with just the 2 of us as a joke?

I think I may make it take the form of a (possibly partially, possibly entirely) fictitious roadtrip to reunite SGUK and bring SG back to life.
It'll be as contrived as an episode of Top Gear and as shoddy and pieced together in hindsight as Doctor Who special "The Five Doctors".
That's all I'll put about it here though, as it won't be worth watching if I explain it all here
