So what has everyone heard from Final Fantasy XIII? I am very curious on what is to come from the next FF. What is going to be different and what is the big deal about it so far?

Well, since ive played about every one thats come out, and finished it(except 2j which i havnt finished yet, i was building up my characters...
and i sort of stayed away from X-2 and XI i just never got to play), ill play this. I plan on getting XII when its out in PAL(next month).
It looks...modern, ill say that. So far we have girl with a gunbladey type thing and what looks like a big guy on a motorcycle for characters. Lets see how it pans out.
I never really out and out hated an FF somehow. Tho i admit X-2 i avoided on general principle..it looked like a huge cash cow to me...X had problems(but i still found it fun in its own way, i was able to get some decent entertainment out of it...and i want to play thru the PAL version with its added stuff), I liked IX alot(im a grognard, ya know me.
), while some folks werent as into that one.
We shall see what XIII has in store....

..What the fuck ever. The summons have greatly changed, as Shiva is now able to turn into a bike, and supports more then one element.

Honestly, that's incredibly stupid. Yeah, I really want to see summoned gods and monsters become transformers. Then I read they're having difficulties implementing this feature and I have to say, "then why are you even bothering to put something so idiotic in at all?" A motorcycle? Give me a break! I bet Bahamut changes into an airship!

The TBB offers you tea and biscuits.

Wasn't it just an airship CALLED Bahamut, though? I don't know, I guess...never bothered to continue FFXII.
And, if this is the case... an airship named Bahamut is fine.
A Shiva that morphs into a motorbike and you sit on her and zoom around (wtf...how much hentai is going to come out of THIS?!)...much less fine.

I didn't fancy her too much, but thought I ought to.
You need to play:
1) [google]Final Fantasy - Dawn of Souls[/google] (GBA) - I & II updated with 16 bittish graphics, and better gameplay.
2) [google]Final Fantasy III[/google] (DS) - The first Final Fantasy game with that ahd interesting characters, 3Dised for the DS.
3) [google]Final Fantasy IV Advance[/google] (GBA) - A port of the first FF game with a real epic story.
4) [google]Final Fantasy V Advance[/google] (GBA) - mixed the sophisticated storytelling (at the time) of IV, with the good stuff that was dropped after III. Also a extrafied GBA remake.
5) [google]Final Fantasy VI Advance[/google] (GBA) - Another port, this time of the blowaway epic final SNES game.
6) [google]Final Fantasy VII[/google] (PS) - The first 3D FF, and the favourite of many people.
7) [google]Final Fantasy VIII[/google] (PS) - Probably my favourite. Square tries to do something new with the battle system, and add a touch of reality here and there.
8) [google]Final Fantasy IX[/google] (PS) - Enjoyable adventure with likable characters, underated due to i's lack of motorbikes and big swords.
9) [google]Final Fantasy X[/google] (PS2) - A bit linear, but it grows on you.
10) [google]Final Fantasy X-2[/google] (PS2) - The first direct sequel to an FF game. Probably a bit better than FFX (gameplay-wise), but also quite silly.
11) MISS THIS ONE
12) [google]Final Fantasy XII[/google] (PS2) - Very diffrent gameplay-wise, with a more sophisticated and believable cast of Characters than the previous few games in the series. You've just got to be in the mood really.
I challnge you to do ALL this year

Yeah, I know..... it's not really the same.... at least I don't think it is, but I'm not done with FFXII. Also, as to the "more sophisticated and believable" cast, I'm certainly not seeing it that way thus far. Actually, they mostly seem rather flat to me and I'm pretty far in (Phon coast). Balthier's the only one I can really say I like.Damien wrote:Bahamut was an airship in FFXII...Lord Golbez wrote:Honestly, that's incredibly stupid. Ahh, ill definately want to play FFVI advance. I love what they are doing to the GBA FFs, with the added things in. Im currently running thru I, and V....and I was a nice improvement...its a bit easier, but 1 was hard due to some crappy gameplay things.
It was nice not having to get slaughtered to Imps so i could buy a leather shield.
V seems about the same so far, but i look forward to the new classes that i already heard about.
Im hoping that II improved a bit, i never got to play thru it.
And as for the Motorcycle Shiva...errrrrr.....

To be fair, you were only 11 when Gladiators was out ;p Whilst I wasa desperate, hormone-fuelled 14 year old at the time...Damien wrote:I didn't fancy her too much, but thought I ought to.
Could be tricky seeing as I don't own a GBA or a DS, and only have a Japanese PS2Damien wrote:I challnge you to do ALL this year
