2006 is going to bown. But mostly because of Capcom, and that across multiple consoles.
Exhibit A)
OKAMI, for the most awesome graphics (artistically). It's japanese, and it doesn't look like anime-reject? COUNT ME IN.
Exhibit B)
DEAD RISING, for the most awesome chopping (with anything). It's like state of emergency, but with zombies! The female characters have nice boobies. COUNT ME IN.
Titties:
Exhibit C)
LOST PLANET, for awesome shooting and blowing shit up (really!). It's like a gun-oriented DMC (but with some awesome)! COUNT ME IN.
Exhibit D)
PHOENIX WRIGHT 2, for awesome objection (objection!). It's like Phoenix Wright 1, but you'll be able to buy it in stores. COUNT ME IN.
-It's GoTY unless something magically appears that can jump into the top10 of all-time in the fall.
-It's the best Kamiya game and his masterpiece, meaning it's better than RE2/DMC/VJ
-It's better than FFXII
-It's better than every Zelda game to date except Zelda does have better boss fights
-It has the best 2d art probably in any game to date
-It has very, very nice 3d art
-It has 2.5D gameplay that's fucking awesome
-It has a battle system that's damn good
-It has like 80 different enemies (take that Zelda!)
-It has 15 weapons with upgradable attacks
-It has the best map overlay ever
-It has excellent dungeon designs filled with creative puzzles and platforming that starts off easy and ends up near Maximo level of challenging
-It has one of the best game stories in a long time (and the plot never goes downhill woohoo!)
-The actual dialogue is very smart with dozens of interesting well-developed characters, and lots of very witty dialogue (think good Pixar) that makes the deadpan humor work.
-It has incredibly directed cutscenes that are like if Kojima x Kurosawa
-It's not kiddy and can actually be pretty bloody, badass, and mature at times. Aimed probably at 15-30 range.
-It has a great soundtrack (4 discs!)
-It has awesome unlockables
-It's long with tons of optional stuff to find (30 hours+)
-It has hidden references to tons of Capcom titles
-It's the best Capcom game since ??? (SF3:3S?)
-Because you are a decent human being and would rather play great games than not
PS. Cannot emphasize enough how good the writing/plot/cutscenes are. Utterly destroys every Zelda in this respect.

Sure. Of course, I admit it may very well be a great game, and the art certainly looks nice to say the least. However, in all circumstances, I will maintain that the list of reasons quoted above sucks ass.
I'm absolutely looking forward to Okami though it's the only game on that list that I care anything about. Now if I had a DS it'd be a different matter...
Despite the comments from some of you naysayers I haven't given up hope that FFXII will be awesome, though nothing can save the great milking project that is FFXIII...

That's not entirely true. At least one of the games might be really good.

Neither have I. but still. FFXII won't make this year of the square enix along. That would take all 6 versions of FFXIII!

It's certainly possible, however it'll take a lot to impress me this time around since they decided to try to milk XIII before it's even proven itself to be any good.

Played Okami a bit the other night.
The graphics and way the whole thing controls is great, though I will have to reserve any sort of judgement until an English language version is released.
The intro was waaaaay too long and I just couldn't work out how to paint this dragon thingy
Can't remember how many (or few) G's Cal gave it but I'm still looking forward to it

Obviously it's the year of Konami, because of Suikoden V and you can pull as many other Konami games I don't know or care about out of your ass to complete a list and make it satisfy year of konami.
