An article states: "...businessman Dominic Simler came up with a novel idea: Why not create a device that would allow users to inhale vaporized alcohol along with oxygen? The machine Simler invented, called Alcohol Without Liquid, or AWOL, which takes hard liquor and disperses it as vapor in an oxygen mist..." Sept. 12th
Another: "The company says AWOL sends alcohol into the bloodstream faster than drinking, resulting in a quick buzz. But it also says the level of alcohol in the body after AWOL use is lower than for traditional drinkers.
Andrew Spano, the county executive in Westchester County, N.Y. (where the new device will debute in America), doesn't like it. He worries it will attract underage drinkers, and is seeking a local or statewide ban." Aug. 19th
When I first saw this I thought they were all smoking bongs or they were using some sort of weird asthma inhaler. Apparently, this is the next step in giving people that alcoholic high without those nasty side effects. It's suppose to be better for you than the liquid alcohol and it looks stupid too.
The controversy is that since it's harder to detect in the bloodstream, drinking laws will be more difficult to enforce. Have any of our friends in Europe or Asia tried this product?
