Mourners in London have been braving a chilly night and waiting times of at least 24 hours to pay their last respects to the Queen

Royalism is an illness.

People over 65 and at-risk/immunocompromised people should definitely get it.

Otherwise healthy people under 65? Depends on your circumstances. I think anyone who qualifies should because the risks of vaccination are so low and, while the risk of severe complications from COVID for otherwise healthy people under 65 is also pretty low, getting long COVID or COVID-induced myocarditis will absolutely suck ass. If your health insurance is going to be a little bitch about it and make you pay for the vaccine (which, legally it shouldn't, but when has the law ever applied to US health insurance) then that may be too much of a financial burden. Moderna and Pfizer say their vaccine is going to retail for, like, $120-130 a dose, so if your insurance is going to make it a problem, or you're uninsured/underinsured, it may not be worth it right now.

Booster uptake was only like 20% for the last bivalent vaccine in the US, and almost no one masks in public, so the argument from population immunity is useless at this point. If you want to protect yourself and limit exposure to close contacts, wearing n95s and getting vaccinated are the best things you can do. But that's the best you can expect.

I'm getting the 2023 update because I work in an organ transplant clinic, live with my in-laws, and visit my parents a lot. I wear n95 masks everywhere in public. This has all just become pretty normal for me. Sure beats having to manually decontaminate in my garage like I did for the first 4 months of the pandemic.
