I hate moving so much. I've gotten rid of at least 10% of all the stuff we had in our house.

Anyone want an ugly-ass floral patterned couch? I can't even get undergrads who want something to set on fire for the annual NCAA championship riot to take it.

Couches are tricky because a) they're a pain to move (require a truck) and b) you never know if they have bedbugs

I've never had bed bugs, fortunately. Chiggers, ticks, and a leech one time, but never bed bugs.

I haven't had an encounter, personally, but Vancouver is one of the WORST cities for Bed Bugs in North America.

I've heard stories. It's a huge pain to deal with and a lot of people end up with PTSD.

So.... wary of second hand beds and couches (and clothes).

I'm sure a lot of them circulate amongst the homeless populations. In theory you could pick them up from riding the bus... this is one of those random worries that you can't really worry about but pops up in my mind to freak me out from time to time.

I honestly wouldn't want secondhand beds and couches for reasons other than bed bugs, but bed bugs are a consideration.
