it was good but i preferred the other 2. this one was all over the place. too much was going and it all felt a little rushed. especially the bringing jack back from the dead.
it felt like it was trying too hard to give every single character a purpose.
barbossa was the best character.

The main important lesson I'll remember from Pirates 3 is that
whoever kisses Elizabeth Swann dies next
Sort of sexist, but kinda cool, I guess... like a cross-variation on both the "women on boats are bad luck" sailors' saying and the "you're no longer a virgin so you must die" rule of horror flicks

Oh come, you know it work.
The music starts and the camera pans to some high heels walking down the stairs, followed by it panning around my body, leading up to my face, sinister smile, blonde hair in a beehive, cigarette in holder, looking like a vamp Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
It'd be brilliant. "Good evening, Mr Bond"

Hmm...
Minion #1 - Of asian origin. Never speaks. Always wears figure hugging black leather. Kills without question or mercy. Usually dressed as a Geisha until a fight breaks out, then suddenly she's a dominatrix snapping your neck
Minion #2 - Of american origin. Blonde. Always wears pink heart shaped glasses and blowing bubble gum bubbles. Usually dressed as a cheerleader. Incredible athlete and a perfect gymnast.
Minion # 3 - Of russian origin. Usually has some sort of M4 strapped to her back. Dresses in a violet PCV catsuit complete with violet sunglasses. Does most of the talking.
... I think the four of us would make an awesome villain squad.

SG review?
As it is, I find it hard to definitively compare this film to the first two in the series.
I watched the first one on dewedee (including amusingly distracting Hong Kong subtitles) at Bazz's house years back, and the second one in Screen Joei towards the end of last year.
Where as I took the first film at face value, I expected too much of the sequel, so that's where some of the disappointment arose.
It would have been good if this were all the disappointment that came from Pirates 2 though.
The film was dragged out, boring in places, and after everything ended up being (quite infuriatinly) just the first part ina double bill as it were.
So to the second part in the double-bill (or the third part of the trilogy/series, if you want to split hairs
).
I wouldn't say I disliked it, actually, I liked it. It was just dragged out too much.
If they wanted to cram so many main characters in there, they should have seriously considered making it into a TV series rather than a film.
There was lots going on, but most of it could have been skipped over to be honest.
There were some good characters, there were some crap characters, and there were a few (two) great characters.
It was indeed visually stunning here and there, but I found myself a bit bored and restless towards the end (where the best scenes, plot-wise as well as aesthetically) to fully enjoy them.
Overall, I think this was more personally-enjoyable than the second in the series, but it is close.
I don't mind if they continue the series (though I think it's pretty wrapped-up), I just hope they don't make any more long-winded films of this ilk.
Overall: [google]2Gs[/google]
