Garbo. You need to shut up. Now.
There's no point to be made. I made an unopiniated general statement. There was nothing more to it. NO HIDDEN "WESTERN RPG >> FF" MESSAGE. I would've expressed it as such if I wanted to.
GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL.

My being a fanboy has absolutely nothing to do with your initial comment, nor does it have anything to do with this dragging out for so long with you missing the point.Ward wrote:No. I'm retorting to pictures because you're are a fucking idiot and there's no point in reasoning with you because you're a fucking fanboy with ADD that can't fucking read.
I never said it wasn't absolutely fucking ridiculous. If you really want me to go ahead and say it, fine, it's absolutely fucking ridiculous that I ditch an RPG after 5 minutes if I don't enjoy it.TheStrife wrote:You also don't seem to see that ditching an RPG after 5 minutes in is absolutely fucking ridiculous. And how many times do I have to say that it does? I don't care if you can't see that your statement suggests that, but at least I'm making it clear that I don't see anything offensive in my statement.
Does that mean I'll stop doing it? No.

And how about you understand that your post, whatever intention you made it with, comes off with a suggestive opinion? Once again, if you had merely said to me, that it wasn't meant to have any sort of opinion, and that you're sorry if it came off that way (a mistake anybody would have made considering the structure of your sentence), it would've been fine.Ward wrote:Garbo. I also never said anything about Western RPGs > FF. I said that your post suggests that you have only recently begun to notice that there are much better RPGs than FFs, and I merely replied with "I think it's because you've openly admitted to a growing fondness of Western RPGs."

I think you're the one who needs to learn to read. I said if you had merely said to me, that it wasn't meant to have any sort of opinion.
The number of times you've told me that it has no opinion, was just that. You kept saying it has no opinion, and I kept saying that yes, there is the suggestion there that there is an opinion.
What I said you should have done, was merely to let me know that there was no intent for any opinion whatsoever in that post.
Your intentions compared to what came off in your post, are clearly different, and I was trying to point out what your post comes off as, and you just kept pushing for "No, my post doesn't come off that way" when all you needed to say was, oops, my post may come off that way, but that was not my intent.
EDIT: In light of what I've just said in this post, I've probably been somewhat of a hypocrite. I apologise if my first post came off as offensive, it was not intended that way.

That alone doesn't make your statement opinionated. You said that it is now debatable, which gives the impression that at one point, you believed that it wasn't debatable (which you cleared up later on) - which makes it an opinion, or suggests an opinion. And I said that this was due to your changing tastes toward Western RPGs. It doesn't change anything. I wasn't trying to change anything. What do you consider the standard? Gameplay wise? Story wise? Music wise?Gen. Heidegger wrote:then what IS the new standard for eastern RPG's?
I can name many many Eastern rpg series that handle these said areas just as good. Yes, they may not be theatrical and spooging from their mouths will fmv, but they certainly have wayyy better gameplay than FF ever had (atleast imo).
What, you talking about music wise? I could name you some very good rpgs with great music that rivals FF in terms of composition and overall charm.
What about the story? Oh man, that's a toughie right there. Yes, FF stories are pretty good, but they aren't the only ones with great characters, plot, and memorable scenes.
So what exactly do you find as standard? Just because it's the most popular and well known it's considered the standard? Please.

I don't believe you for one fucking bit that you didn't take that comment personally. Ugh... More bickering. I said it's 'now' debatable because there's been like one "traditional" FF this generation so far, and 50+ other RPGs. Compared to previous generations, we were served with quite a few more FFs to make the comparison with. Go wild assumptions!Fagbo wrote: That alone doesn't make your statement opinionated. The only "traditional" FF this time around also had considerably less influence as a whole on the RPG genre and on the industry than the FFs of previous generation(s). That's not even debatable, that's a fact, and that's what prompted me to say 'now'.
As far as to what motivated me saying the statement in question, it's simply because the statement is true, and that I thought General's was not necessarily true.

Eastern/Western? I don't believe there's a standard in RPGs this generation. Alot of new series have been released, and none of them rise to the top, a series that almost everyone can enjoy that pushes the limits of the genre beyond anything we had seen before. What we got this generation is a good amount of great/good RPGs, but nothing with a revolutionary or a huge evolutionary step. Typically "standards" are those games that push the genre to new levels. I don't think there's been such an RPG in the last few years.Gen. Heidegger wrote:then what IS the new standard for eastern RPG's?
And if you look at the varying styles of RPGs hitting consoles lately, you can see that there isn't a uniform direction, or a formula that is emulated by many companies. Was there a standard, most would probably attempt to emulate it.
See Garbo? That's an opinion. Now I am adressing the statement I made, complementing it with my own point of view on the issue.

I have no issue with you saying that statement, I believe it to be quite true. It's true that FFs have dropped in standard, as a typical fanboy, I merely attribute this to highs and lows. You can't win them all. I only said that the correlation between your comment and your changing tastes, is pretty high, and if you deny this, it's really my prerogative whether or not I choose to believe you.The only "traditional" FF this time around also had considerably less influence as a whole on the RPG genre and on the industry than the FFs of previous generation(s). 1) Without the previous knowledge that I have started liking other RPGs, you may never have interpreted it this way. In fact, that previous knowledge you had is precisely why you rubbed it in my face initially. My comment alone suggests nothing aside from what it states and is completely independant of my preferences. And that previous knowledge of yours is ridiculously incomplete. Preference of Western RPGs? If I prefer them so much, why have I only completed one Western RPG this generation, compared to more than 5 Japanese RPGs?
Yeah, probably because I prefer certain elements of them. Not them in particular. In fact, I don't have a strong preference for either. I'd like to see more that share both's qualities. Didn't you know that?
2) Just because you interpret it some way, doesn't make it factual. And you're a paranoid fanboy, of course you're bound to interpret it incorrectly and see offense where there should be none. That's typical fanboy and troll behaviour.
And really, who the fuck cares what it may/may not suggests? What matters should be what it states?

Because it doesn't.Unless you can explain to me properly (you're going to say you already have, but you haven't) why your post does not suggest an opinion.
Hmph. Wait you're right. It does suggest an opinion. I do say I think. I'm suggesting that my opinion is that it's debatable that FFs are the standard. Hmph. I don't know why I said so. You're right, but I did interpret it that way. You know why? Because the suggestion is there.Ward wrote: 1) Without the previous knowledge that I have started liking other RPGs, you may never have interpreted it this way.
I interpreted your post in such a way that an opinion was present, because there was the suggestion that an opinion is present. I replied to your post with a statement that says that opinion is probably due to the fact that you've started like Western RPGs more. That's all.In fact, that's precisely why you rubbed it in my face initially.
Once again, the "now" changes everything. Just because you didn't intend it, and I know you didn't because you've already explained to me why you used the "now" in that context, doesn't meant that it cannot be interpreted in such a way that made your post opinionated. Because I interpreted it that way, it makes it possible. Once again, the suggestion is there, whether you intended it or not.2) Just because you interpret it some way, doesn't make it factual.
Obviously the suggestion led to a different interpretation of what you may have intended, and that's why you and I have been on different pages up to this point. And really, who the fuck cares what it may/may not suggests? What matters should be what it states? :nub2
