well thought i'd put this in to, considering i'm quite curious and am getting a pc. Would anyone know of any good non mmorpgs on the pc? Just normal rpgs that might be fun?
Specifically RPGs?
I'd say [google]Oblivion[/google], but haven't played it, so that's just from what I've heard.
If you're up for venturing out of the genre, [google]Sam & Max - Culture Shock[/google] is well worth a look.
OoOoh, Waawaard still fighting the old PC vs console war?
Believe it or not, my first (video game)[*] RPGs I played on PC
[*] to be entirely accurate: my first RPGs I played in real life - old school, pen & paper style, ya know
Might and Magic III, Ultima Underworld... Pretty old school shit, clearly (though there is older)
So, anyway, yeah, I'm curious too. Any good recent PC RPGs? (or has the MMORPG genre totally killed the traditional RPG genre?)
My problem with them is that most of them all have similar goals: level up to the cap or get the best or whatever. It gets old after a while, and the games demand so much dedication. The bad thing is that mmorpg fans are fickle. One moment they're all on this one game's nuts and 6 months later they're messing with another game clocking hundreds of hour doing literally the same shit.
It'd be good if they could keep an MMORPG going for a long period of time while frequently adding new and interesting free features that don't alienate causual or new players.

There's guild wars, but there's a whole lot of annoying people that play it. Myself included

MMORPGs have the exact same goals as any RPGs: they're just not cleverly hidden under a thin layer of potentially pretentious storylining that's actually shitty.
I dislike them because they require too much time.
Well, Diablo, Diablo 2 can be played online, but they really are just offline action RPG kill everything games. Worth a checkout, though.
Warcraft II and III, real time strategy, and also a lot of fun.
Of course, the plethora of building/Civilization type of games out there.
Or, just get a Turbografx 15 and Sega Master System emulator, and rejoice in the old goodness. I say those because alot of people i talked to some Nintendo derivative.
