Yes, I know most/all of you hate Xenosaga, but I may as well create a thread, as the Japanese version came out in early July, and us poor Americans appear to be getting it August 29th.

Anyway. It appears that, even though the game is the final, has the best gameplay to FMV ratio, and finishes the story, it is a colossal sales flop in Japan.

Ep1: 500k-ish
Ep2: 250k-ish
Ep3: probably hasn't even reached 150k in the two and a half weeks it's been out.

Which, to me, is a damn shame.

I still need to play Episode 1 and 2 first, might do it now that I've joined dole club

....But first I'm gonna finish Xenogears at last as Chris happens to have a game saved almost exactly where I last saved before my memory card got deleted almost 6 years ago (no, I still haven't got over that... One of the most traumatic moments in my life

Those games stink. Even though Xenogears was decent, yet flawed, the Xeno games were flawed, yet flawed. NOT WORTH BUYING EVEN FOR CHEAP. I FELT RIPPED OFF JUST ON THE TIME I SPENT ON THIS WORTHLESS GAME. NAMCO/MONOLITH, I WANT THOSE 40 HOURS BACK! YOU'LL THINK THE SAME IF YOU HAVE A BRAIN THAT CAN PROCESS LOGIC.

THIS IS A GAME FOR PEOPLE THAT DO NOT LIKE GAMES - WHY? THERE'S HARDLY ANY GAME IN THERE. THERE'S ABOUT 3 DUNGEONS (OVERLY LONG), A SHITTY BATTLE SYSTEM, AND HOURS AND HOURS OF MORONIC DIALOGUE THAT THINKS IT COULD BE PRETENTIOUS. IT REALLY FUCKING SUCKS. WORST RPG I'VE EVER PLAYED.

I really can't see why anyone with a brain, or (I should rather say XOR) isn't a total XG whore would like this. In fact, the only people I know that liked it were total XG whores.

I still haven't ever played a Xenosaga game.
Has anyone any idea how the Xenosaga 1+2 game for the NDS compares to the PS2 games?

Erm...well, it's on one SD card, it's been heavily cut down, and a lot of bits you played in the games have now been reduced to story bits you can read about.

It's Xenosaga Lite, really.

The DS game is watered down, yeah, but it also includes some bits in Ep2 that were cut out for the PS2 release. I believe Takahashi considers the DS version of Ep2 the canon version, actually. And, I'm not sure if you know Japanese (do you?), Ent, but XSDS is only in Japanese.

Go Cal, play!

And, Yuka, I somehow highly, highly doubt XS3 is going to be released in Europe.

It's doing godawfully in Japan. I don't think they'll even see the point, as Ep2 sold pretty damn badly in Europe.

I'm fairly sure you'd have to import.

So why not do it around the release and add to the initial sales numbers?

Pretty much the same story but obviously without all the cutscenes.
The battle system is different from both and imo not very good.
It's all a bit boring really.
...it's also in Japanese

I only bought it as I'm a collecter tbh

I still need to finish Episode II tbh. I never got back itno it after lending it to Kat mid-play

And yeah, HKK, Ep3 is pretty much regarded as the best in the series. It's "everything the others weren't". Mostly because it finishes the story. Lol.

Like I said, though, it's unfortunate that it's selling like shit. Apparently Amazon Japan has already slashed the price by 20%, which is unheard of. It usually takes a month, and it took a week.

Even if it were true, that XS3 > FFXII (I will more than likely believe this so, as XS > FF, in my opinion), sales obviously will not reflect that.

And we all know that FFXIII is coming. XSIV will never come, though.

Or, there is VERY little possibilty for it.

I spent twenty minutes watching the God Of War features while my dad was checking eBay because I can't play games if someone watches me/says stupid stuff about it.

Yeah, XS was originally going to be like...six episodes, but Namco pulled the plug at 3.

Oh Yuka, don't miss the ending because you can't get a TV. Like Damien said, get a cheapo little TV and play the game. I will be upset if you miss it.

I only like people watching me play games if it's on a second play through. X3 I like to be alone for my first play through (I'll intentionally play at night to avoid my family), so if I need to geek out, or bawl my eyes out, I don't have my stupid sister/family laughing at me.

Not really. Or, that's not what it seems like.

XS1 = both of the main creators
XS2 = Takahashi takes a backseat, and his wife leaves the company (she later went on her livejournal and angsted about it and said she was going to kill herself. >___>)
XS3 = Takahashi back as scenario director, and director...or something to that effect. Most of the plans his wife had for XS2, which were cut, are back for XS3

So...I suppose it KINDA led to the cutting short of the series (Xenosaga 2, which most people seem to hate), but not directly.
