A little diddy that took me around 8 months.
Enjoy~

That creepy old hag was Orochimaru. He appeared several other times during the vid. The significance is that the person who's eyes were closing at the end (because the person is dying) is the Third Hokage, Orochimaru's teacher. If you look closely you'll notice between blinks the "old hag" image changes into a young boy. Spoiler: Orochimaru kills the Hokage. Even though he was betrayed by his pupil, he still remembers the better times.Vibing_V wrote:Also at the end there's an image of some creepy old hag. I didn't recognize him/her/it from the rest of the amv and so it was meaningless (as well as ugly and creepy).

Really? How did you do a lot of those effects and what have you? That was damn cool... I remember videos never had those kinds of special effects in them beforeMaverick wrote:yeah, I tried not to go over the Haku/Zabuza opus too much. But since I had a whole stanza dedicated to that I had little choice.![]()
Thanks for the critique, by the way. I placed in the top 10 out of 42 at the convention. :>

I added a few white bars and fixed the drop shadow bug with the rectangles with Haku. Oh and I added some drum effects at "She might." :>TheDarkOne wrote:mav is awesome with special effects... better than any other amv creator i've seen so far, this video (if it's still the same as when i saw it a while ago) is really slow at at the beginning, but i think the end really picks up with the orochimaru vs. third scences

It's called action sync; or trying to match the beats to visual hits caused by effects or in the anime. What do you want me to do? Place a long scene that doesn't synch up at all? That doesn't match the video. It isn't tempo you're talking about, it's mood. And I agree with you on that fact.Raistlin wrote:Secondly, especially near the end I found that the clips and clip placement were way too fast to match the slower pace of the music. It just seemed odd to be listening and trying to make a connection with the music watching fast scenes or seeing a bunch of clips thrown at me in a short amount of time or having effects that were just too fast for the music.
I suggest watching the anime then. All the characters promising to be better fits with "what I used to be will pass away and then you'll see." That was the just of my video. Although I could've failed my editing like you said.Raistlin wrote:Although I found some here and there, mostly with some of the chorus lines, there just wasn't enough to get me to feel a connection with the story the editor was trying to tell. Physically or metaphorically.
Spoken like someone who truly doesn't know how to encode. Sure fansubs average 175 mb at 20 minutes... but that isn't necessarily good quality. And effects don't really have anything directly to do with it. Just noise. I had a large portion of noise as well as green tint as part of my mood setting in the beginning (for some reason green+noise worked there, in my opinion), and noise compresses poorly (big file sizes) as well as the green makes files bigger (as green has the most bits processed for it- red has less and blue has the least. Back when video compression was trying to be made plausible they reduced the bits distributed by color depending on which color the human eye noticed the least).Raistlin wrote:84 megs for only a 4+ min vid? I assume that because of all the effects used that could have brought the size up a bit. I guess a bit of it also depends on framerate etc etc. But I figured it would have been a bit longer at that size.
I edited it entirely in Adobe Premiere Pro, and used Jasc Software Paint Shop Pro to draw the bars and other foreign artifacts. The effects and progression of the video was made entirely in Premiere using the bars made in PSP to block over aliased edges.Kokaku wrote:I’ve had a few music video ideas, but don’t know the first thing about their compilation or where to start. Did you use Adobe Premiere Pro to assemble everything and not just the effects?
