Guilty Gear XX

Post by TheDarkOne »

since im a total whore for the game, and i know a few here that are aswell.. i thought i'd make this... share your hype for coming GG games, hatred for Isuka, and strats for your chars, who's your best? favorite combos? favorite chars? and possibly GG story line... something i would like to get other ppls questions and answers on; and maybe even victory stories.

omg win.

I need to start playing GGXX again...

I fucking hate how Xbox got GGXX#Reload and ps2 got shafted ;(

My favorite character to use would probably be Chipp. He's just so fun to fuck around with, and EX Ky is fun too. Even though Potemkin is strong as fuck, he's just not my style, I can't STAND slow ass characters like him in fighting games.

Robo-Ky is taking some time to get used to, but he's too fucking awesome not to play with. Right now my main is Ky and then Robo.

I'm trying to nail this dust though.

S, HS, S, P, S, P, S, jc. S, HS, 623+S.

yes Isuka is quite vomit inducing, i played it at the pizza place here, omfg, Johnny and Slayer = USELESS!!! its bullshit, cuz you fight multiple ppl all their combos are utterly garbage, cuz if you start it, they'll just hit you out of it... D:

yea PS2 should have gotten Sharp Reload :( but i have it for PC, and my friend has it for his jap PS2, so this school year will be filled with long nights procrastinating on papers and playing GGXX#R XD

get em in the corner and just false f.HS the ball fist thing 4 times :P that's like half a life bar. And Ky's easiest and most dmging dust look is:

D(Hold up), S, S, S(let go of up), P, S, P, S [pending on your possition you can do another P, S] jc. S, HS, 623+HS

another good combo for ky is: Grab (as sword hits)> RC> S > jc.K, S, jc.S, HS, 623+HS.

Also, on Ky, if you ever do any ground gattlings, always end it with c.D, and then do a 236+HS for extra pressure :E

Man i've missed GG talk <3 if anyone wants more strats and/or combos on characters, i know a little bit about most everyone and am glad to help out :D

I have to get more into these games. I thought it was clever how all of the characters were named after heavy metal bands and members(Ky, Chip Z Nuff, Axl, Testament...), its the 'metal' game and i think me and the crew need to play it more!

I was a little turned off at first but after i fooled around with it more it sort of sank in more for me, so it was pretty coola fter that, i just gotta play more of them.

:check to what DO said
GGXX is a very well balanced fighter that has tons of depth thanks to RCing and Bursting. Right now my best characters are Testament and Ky but I can pretty much use anyone fairly proficiently(with teh exception of Faust and Axl). Testament is my favorite character.

Mikey:
Ky is a huge rushdown character, in my opinion and you should never let up in your offense. You should master FRCing his sliding kick and heavy slash fireball. Some of my offensive techniques are run up d.p,s.k,s.s,f.k,d.p,d.D if they block that then finish with a slash fireball. However, if you catch them with the crouching DUST than follow up with the hs fireball slightly before they get up. They are forced to block the fireball and you can rush in for another offence.
My favorite combo is f.p,s.sx2,qcf.k,RC on the slash, run d.p,s.s, j.k,s,j.s,dp.s.

The third set of P, S actually kicks in the damage scaling for some reason, and leaves you dealing less damage. There's another one along the lines of s.D, j.S, pause, j.D, j.S, j.HS, 623+FS but it's only a few points more then s, hs, s, p, s, p, s, 623+HS.

I'm fucking around with Anji, but I have Baiken to screw with too. Honestly I play Ky defensively (not always) but he's more or less got the tools to handle most everyone so rushdown is only needed after knockdown.

no Sharp Reload, or #Reload, is basically GGXX but with some graphics tweaks, and TONS of move tweaking, FRC timing, and the likes of that, as well as Robo-Ky being an ACTUAL character. If it's the Korean verison it will usually say Guilty Gear XX#R Korean! always having that little "korean" just below the game title

EDIT: Also Anji, if you can get it off, its a nice switch em up if you fight turtles, d 214+P> K >jc.k,S,HS,D nifty little combo, there's more that you can do with that too, but i dont remember all of it, my friend Kevin has a MEAN anji. And Testament, you gotta be 3/4 to the wall, S,HS>Gravedigger>RC>D>Gravedigger, wall bounce, S>gravedigger>Switch sides>K, jc.K>D>gravedigger ... or some other varriation on that depending how close you are to the wall testament is all about the wall bounces

EDIT2: watch out possible spoiler!!! if your a moron!

I haven't played Isuka, but motherfucking shit, GGXX is the best damned fighting game I've seen in eons.

The characters have SO MUCH personality, its incredible. The weakest characters (in terms of personality) in the game are the two generic chinese warriors, and even their attacks can be dazzling.

Zappa, despite his useless against an effectively quick person (EVEN IN EX MODE), is my favorite character in a fighting game ever.
Thousands of years ago, before the dawn of man as we know it, I was known as Dakota... a primative, ape-like creature, making crude and pointless toys out of dino bones and his own waste...

Baiken or Anji possibly?

Zappa can handle quick characters. He just needs the right summon for it. That's it really. I mean summon, sweep, RC, summon is instant Roah anyway, so there goes your rushdown.

A friend of mine got second place in the monthly tourney we had last month with Zappa. Quite a sight. Guy's got infinites and everything.

I use to play with Zappa a lot and I do admit he's got the tools to take down some of the higher tier characters but he is a very high maintenance character. I had a combo that did 80% damage if you had the Ex-Raijin summon and once you have that summon the match is yours.

DO:
Testaments most damaging combo is the wall bounce grave digger but that is hardly the basis of his gameplay. Testament is all about mind games and traps followed by some quick punishing. FRCing his E-X-E beast special puts a constant pressure game on the opponent and then throw in his high-low mind games and traps afterwards and you've got a lot to handle.

see that's where you're actually wrong.. i've seen high tier play testament, and you'd THINK its about taps, but nets are used mainly offensively, and no one gives a shit about the tree, the tree is only used to humiliate your opponent, it IS about FRCing the EXE beast yes, but you do that so you can net > wallbounce

DO:
I have a couple of high tier Testament vids as well and the majority of them focus on pressuring the opponents with the traps so that they can setup the FRCing EXE beast rushdown/trap/mindgames. The wall bounce combo is Testaments most damaging combo and yes, you'll want to incorporate a strategy to get that combo in but it doesn't mean your whole focus of the match is to get that combo in. Testament has enough tools to go an entire match without using the wall bounce combo. It's just wiser to to use everything at his disposal.

Everyone's goal is to get the other guy into the corner, so you can start doing your stupid dust loop shit or something.

I mean who doesn't have it?

Sol has it.
Ky has it.
Axl has it.
I-no has it.
Anji has it.
Baiken has it.
May has it.
Millia has it.
I believe Johnny has it.

It's all gay.

umm... no? none of those but Sol have a Dust loop, the only person that can even come close to a dust loop you didnt even list, and thats Eddie.

also, that couldnt be more wrong for Millia, Baiken and Anji, also Slayer's combos get severely goofy in the corner. I'm sorry, but you are just flat out wrong. At least on the characters i meantioned, i dont know enough about I-No, May or Axl

This game indeed rocks.
And I just bought a shiny brand new copy of Guilty Gear X2 on Ebay.
Oh joy.

My main characters are May and Dizzy :o

Dizzy is fun :D i dont know any May tho, this is ube simple Dizzy:

standing Slash, crotching Heavy Slash > 236+Slash or heavy dont remember, whichever one is the blue spike, FRC > run in K, jc.whatever you want... i dont remember the rest, but just the s.S, c.HS > Spike = tons of pain

Dizzy is tons of fun and I use her once in a while as a way to throw off people who are use to my Testament tactics.

Wouldn't it be better to continue the Ice spike FRC chain than to jump cancel afterwards? You've already done plenty of damage after three chains of that. Her corner dust combo does good damage as well.

I've seen and had all those characters corner loops done on me, so while it's not Sol dust loop gay, it's gay enough not to tech out of it. I mean the worst on there is Ky, who at most gets two reps.

Which means it's still gay.

obviously you have not quite mastered air recovery yet... and "two reps" does NOT constitute a dust loop.. a loop is literelly an infinte that can NOT be broken... and only Sol has that... the others have a few dust repetitions, where you can get in a few dusts, but that does not constitute a loop

Quit the smug attitude DO, I've played enough of the game to know what I'm talking about. Infinites, constituting, whatever. IF you can get more than one damn dust in and it's in the corner, it's a loop. Two reps, fourty, whatever.

:P alright i'll quit, but seriously, saying that a loop is only two reps is just wrong... :{ and most of these two hit "loop" (with the exception of Eddie and Sol) require FRC or RCing... i know the one your talking with Baiken, its the only combo i know with her:

c.D>236+K, jc.S, D > FRC > Air Dash > (S), D [the extra slash is if they're too far away, cuz the dust has short windup]

that's two dusts... so is that a loop? i just think your being very broad with your definition of what a loop is...

This is off the topic, but I got owned by one of the best SFA3 players in the nation, but guess what...this player is a "she." Interesting how one of the top SFA3 players is a she, god did she hand my ass to me, she knew every little trick. Then I saw her on kalleria, and she told me there is a whole SFA3 clan composed of only girls, who are GOOD!
Although nobody likes to be raped by a girl (honestly I didn't mind, i don't play SFA3 very often), there is nothing hotter than a clan of japanese schoolgirls who own u at SFA3 :)

You see that second guy? Kono?

That's the kid I play every month, and once a week in other games at Chinatown Fair.

His Millia scares the bejesus out of me. If I can ever get tape it I'll u/l it for you guys. Still a cool guy though, mad nice to talk to.
