Okay, I take back everything I've said about Final Fantasy XII, the new shots hwo this game lookign beautiful.
The new CG screens give a sort of Final Fantasy IX world impression which is a good thing.
I guess the game's been in development for so long that I've gotten used to the character design and everything.
It already feels like an old friend
Hopefully the next set of actual gameplay screens will look less brown and jagged

Yeah no shit, isn't that dude from Vagrant working on this? I remember hearing the details a LONG time ago, but its been too far and too few that I forgot.

i saw the new trailer that was played during the unveiling of the ps3...and next to the ps3 graphical posibilities, ffxii's graphics looked kinda outdated
You know, at the rate they're going, they just might do it. I mean think about it; FF12 was playable at E3 last year, but not this year. The PS3 is unveiled, and will be released Spring 2006, around the time of the end of fiscal year 2006, and ff12 was reported to be released in fiscal year 2006. The only new media of FF12 to be released lately are Pre-rendered cutscenes, and the entire trailer is pre-rendered cutscenes. With the stunning real-time graphics as it is for ff12, I see no reason for them to hide it, or decide to not let people play an updated demo this year - unless they've completely tossed out the idea and restarting from scratch on the PS3.
could be...but i'd like to think FFXIII is for ps3, just for laughs ...because they did what you just said, the "fmv" graphics will be outdated heavily!
Maybe it will be on the next gen XBox ?
I've seen somewhere that Square Enix had agreed to port some FF games on this one (FF XI for start, and then... who knows ?)

I'm getting tired of the zomg supposedly realistic fmv shit. It honestly isn't that special, especially when the characters look different in every angle. Andyea, it is very outdated.
Eh I don't know. I won't say anything anymore until I play the game I guess. But um the background and settings look neat!

While I think FMV is there to stay, its overuse is becoming more and more pointless as years go by. I'd much rather see consistency with in-game models during cinematics rather than see over-produced FMV shots that are inconsistent with the game's look. Use it sparingly, and I won't complain though.
at the "inconsistent look" issue with pre-rendered FMV (they'd better stick with the in-game 3D engines, nowadays these already look good enough),
and at Zidane looking worse than Vaan
I think Final Fantasy XII looks great. I'm glad that the style hasn't taken a drastic change. There's something comfortingly familiar with the look, it ties FFIX and FFX/2 together nicely. Can't wait to play it!
