The Roman empire did not fall necessarily because of Caesar. It was mainly that after the Pax Romana period of peace, all farmers had been seeking pleasures and digging up the land to make more money for themselves, Visigoths (barbarians) started to be included in society as well as within the military, Bread and Games organizations were set to take away from the pain of life but did not help its condition, and the rich and the poor had a well defined unbalance of wealth that could not be satiated either way without a big downfall.
Rome basically met its third generation, whose soldiers were no longer as lethal and Barbarians were hired to fight instead. These barbarians were to be the people that would reign the lands of western Europe following the fall of Rome, separated into groups such as Visigoths, Franks, Lombards, etc. But economically speaking, the wealthy in Rome by this time were corrupt, and nothing could be done to help the poor, meaning that a large majority of the civilization could not survive from the government (and the government just gave them weekly passes to colliseum fights and free food, great but hardly enough to keep millions alive).
Rome's sophistication thereafter declined to the point that no one could even remember how a road was built, and only Barbarian tribes ruled the lands of western Rome. However, in eastern Rome (From Greece and eastward) a new civilization had formed after the fall, Byzantium. Some say that these were the Romans that didn't fall, but this really isn't all that true. I forgot how they were more advanced than the average barbarian, but their architectural and art styles are completely different after a very short period after Rome's fall. This means it couldn't have originally been Roman.
As for the barbarians, the Franks would unite under the Pope only to fall due to Charlemagne's 3 sons being morons with the land. Soon, however, France and England would rise up after much time (and I'd assume they'd learn more) and the middle ages would begin.

Whatever your religious beliefs that kind of IS true. Granted, not in his lifetime (here I define lifetime as time of bodily presence on earth), but you know what I mean.isildur wrote:Hey guys, check out Mr. Longpost up there.

It's the first picture google image search came up with when I entered the title of this thread.Entr0pi3 wrote:Isn't that a picture of the conflict caused by the kidnapping of the Sabines women by Roman settlers ? Then it's the beginning of the story, not the end.Damien wrote:
If it were a picture of Danni Minogue, I would have still posted it in this thread
