In 1076 AD, Emperor Henry IV holds a synod in Worms, in what is now Germany. The assembly declares Pope Gregory VII deposed and the bishops abandon their allegiance to him.
Next month, Gregory VII pronounces a sentence of excommunication against Henry IV at Rome—he is excluded from the Catholic Church—and excommunicates all the bishops named by Henry.
Drama!

Finishing a game I originally started more than two decades ago was impressive.
At first, I restarted when better versions of the translation patch/emulator became available. I never managed to play very far into an anything on my computer though. It just didn't feel right when it wasn't on a SNES pad. I must have started the game 5 or 6 times over the years before getting distracted by something more accessible. The official English version on the Switch was the perfect opportunity to pick it back up and stick with it. It's a great game. Possibly the best in the series. It's also gorgeous in a way that modern games just can't be any more.
It should be remembered as one of the great SNES titles and the fact it wasn't given the chance and didn't get an English release until now is almost as big a crime as the fact that Square barely bothered releasing any of their SNES/PS1 RPGs in Europe.

Isn't that the one where you pick your party at the very beginning, and it's a different game depending on who you set as the main character?
Always seemed like a cool concept.

Yeah. I went this time with the party that I mostly went towards whenever I started it in the past.RDM wrote:Isn't that the one where you pick your party at the very beginning, and it's a different game depending on who you set as the main character?

I was checking out a guide for the very end (wanted to make sure I had it finished before Link’s Awakening is out today) and it suggested at least level 55 for the last boss. Glad I didn’t bother grinding as I beat it fine at level 49.
