Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
I think another playthrough of MGS and MGS2 warrants being done after playing this.
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
ZOMG TOMORROW
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Canada is getting delayed in getting this game. At the earliest we'll be recieving the game on friday and it's all because they need to attach the french instruction manual to the game.
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
So I'll probably have this game by this time tomorrow. :pirate
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
I really wonder why they can't do like everyone else and get it shipped the same day (or so) as in the US.Killey wrote:Canada is getting delayed in getting this game. Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
It was on the internet about 32 hours ago.
Few complaints: I had a bit of trouble with about 3 lines during the codec conversations, as in there was stuttering. I'm quite sure it's not my PS2, I haven't had it for more than a year.
Also, do not choose Very Easy or Easy mode, even if you suck at games. I played up to the part where the demo ends, and I'm restarting in normal mode, because the experience is just ruined with the retarded enemies. They can't see you from directly in front of their face, and you also get a weapon about 5 minutes into actual gameplay which is a tranquilizer gun with infrared that is suppressed, with the suppressor never running out, and it also has infinite ammo for some reason. On top of that, it also keeps your stealth rating at 80% and reduces your stamina loss, which barely goes down anyway. Let's just say I'm 30 minutes in, and I've been attacked 3 times by a crocodile, and my stamina is still full despite not having eaten anything to recover it.
So, choose Normal or harder. It's just not fun in very easy or easy mode.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Normal is fucking hard. I shudder to imagine it on hard.
Right now I'm at a boss battle that's taken me over an hour so far. So fun.

Garbo:
I've had some stuttering problems as well with the Codec and there seems to be a lot of loading issues with the codec but it's nowhere near as bad as the demo.

I choose the "I like the MGS2" option just before the game and the extra sequence was priceless.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
This game is damn hard for sure.
But fuck, i'm having a blast with it. HKK and I were talking in IRC, and we can't get over how cool every fucking aspect of this game is.
The cutscences are amazing; the dialogue and script are GREAT (esspecially Para-Medic. She's just awesome); the enviroments are fresh and a blast, and of course the MGS gameplay we all love is in tact and better than ever. I really like the new improvements they've added to the game. They really add to the entire experience.
I'm just having a blast with this game. I'm only 2.5 hours in, and I can't wait to keep playing. 20+ hours i've heard this game is, and that makes me even more happy.

This game owns. The comedy, the cutscenes, the action, the dialouge, the difficulty. It's just such a great game.
I've adjusted to not having a map. A lot.
I like having the Raiden mask. I chose MGS2 too. That was so great.
And I'm liking Para-Medic more than Mei Ling!
I got to see the spider radio convo

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
I just fought the second Cobra battle at...shit this guy is hard.
My advice: Stock up on all the green mushroom thingies you can from that cave that you fall into. It recharges your battery to full when you eat it or something. And you'll need battery for this fight. A lot of it.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Is anyone else having severe frame rate problems? It's especially bad during cutscenes and sometimes the game would just freeze on me. For example, the cutscene with the phone call between President Johnson and Khrushchev froze at one point and the scene with Eva at the house in the room where you first meet Sokolov had some serious slow downs Could be a hardware problem since I have a first-generation PS2 that also has the Disc Read Error but I haven't had freezing errors with too many other games. Also, any guide to clean the PS2 manually would be nice.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
I just got a radio frequency from threatening information from a guard. Go try 148.96 its nothing special it's just a music station.
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Holy shit, that first boss battle with Ocelot owned. It was like straight out of a western

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Just finished the game. Can't say I loved it terribly, and I certainly don't look forward to replaying this any time soon. MGS1 still wins in terms of overall enjoyment, whereas MGS2 wins in replayability cuz it's just awesome.
I didn't truly enjoy MGS3 until the last 1/3 of the game where you spend more time indoors. The gameplay wasn't really for me, I didn't have that much fun at all. The only thing keeping me going was definitely the ending, and more than likely, EVA. The ending did not disappoint, and MGS3 wins for the best ending out of the 3. I loved it.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Yeah, The End is one annoying fucker. Finally found him after 30 minutes of wandering the forest and took another 30 minutes following him with a machine gun to kill him.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
That's if you don't know how to fight him
Use your directional mic to hear him breathing, look on your map to see which direction it's in, and predict which sniping spot he is at, and then sneak up on him in the appropriate camo. If he doesn't see you while you sneak up on him, he'll never move. Just sneak up on him and kill him many times over. Thermal Goggles help as well.

I beat the fury and I'm outside the base now.
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Beat this earlier tonight. Awesome, awesome ending. Almost wipes the horrid taste of MGS2's putrid story out of my mouth. Already going through a replay on Hard and I just beat the Fury at 5 hours clocked in.
The End's Moss camo = win

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
This may be old hat, but I just discovered a neat trick. (Minor Spoilers): When you reach the warehouse past the cave, just after the cutscene where The Fear is sent off to hunt you, I noticed that they left The End sitting in his wheelchair outside. So as soon as I got control back, I pulled out the sniper rifle and looked where he'd been; sure enough, another soldier was wheeling him back inside. So I capped that soldier; at this point, The End woke up and started trying to wheel away, but I plugged another bullet into his skull and he exploded. I called the Major, and he said something about "not having to face him later", so maybe I just eliminated a boss fight. I reset just in case, since I don't WANT to miss a boss fight, but this could be a nifty way to skip The End as a boss if you wanted to.
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Haha, holy shit. That fucking rules. I used the directional mic at that part and heard squeaking. I assumed it was EVA and Volgan getting it on and not The End being wheeled away.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
I heard about that particular trick but never thought that it was possible to do so. I'll have to try that on my next playthrough but I wouldn't want to skip that boss fight as it's one of my favorite boss fights plus I want to:
Hold up "The End" during the fight and shake him down for his camo.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Moss camo is worth it. I had 100% camo rating laying down with it on right out in the open.
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Holy shit I can't beat The Sorrow.
And the torture scene was fucking amazing
Man, that was some high quality direction.

Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
You don't "beat" him per se, just last 'till he says "Wake up".
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Gamefaqs lists the spirit camo as available after you complete the game once but I had that camo after the scene with The Sorrow.
Re: I EAT THE SNAKES
Gamefaq's has shit for info regarding MGS3.
