Flash Actionscript Halpo

Post by Maigraith »

There's so many of you I figure one of you must have some skill at Actionscript! :D

I am trying to import a movie clip of a guy sleeping from the library using Actionscript. This works, except for one of two things:

1) How on earth do I resize the damn clip? I tried the movieClip._width/_height thing but it doesn't seem to work - it'll either resize the ENTIRE flash file or nothing at all

2) I am using the attachMovie() function to display the movie clip, and it displays and loops correctly if it's outside an if statement, but if I put it inside the if statement, it'll fuck up. Why?! >_<

The .fla file for your perusal:

Thanks ^^

EDIT 2: I do need help with Question 2 actually!!!

I believe you can't resize teh actual movie clip without using a program suited for it, ie Premiere or otherwise. Flash displays the clip at its original size, and if it is bigger than the canvas alloted for the swf then it automatically resizes.

I think. I may be completely off, but my knowledge with flash is limited as of now.

Ohhhh Leftover, silly sausage, when I say movieclip I meant a Movie Clip symbol within Flash. :P Not a movie clip, per se!

Oh. Took that too literally then. A der.

I'll take a look at it school with a friend who is more knowledge on the program then I am, and I'll get back to you on that.

I should probably know this but haven't been doing enough flash lately D:

there are a lot of decent tutorials here (some are better than others) if you haven't seen it before

that may not help you with this specific question though
